The best way to charge your I Pad is to use low USB Power adaptor. It will charge but it will take time to get fully charge when you will attach it to computer. Just take care of your computer, it should be on while charging I Pad. If it will turn off then I Pad battery will again go down.

It must shows charging when you connect it to PC. Is it charging with charger? If yes. Then check your USB Cable. If you have alternate cable than check with this alternate cable. if problem not get resolve with this cable also than contact customer care support.
