My OS is Windows 98 and IE, Avant browser and Firefox are used to surf sites but now IE is not able to open websites.

What could be the wrong with IE and how might I get it working again?

Good day,

I'd encountered the same problem and here is the thing that you need to do, troubleshoots and try to find the cause of the errors it is usually from the link that you are inserted in the web page. Check the add-ons, it is one of the common causes and try to disable it. Turned on your phishing filter it might be off.

Open Internet Explorer go to tools check your security settings and set it to recommended setting. Turn on the pop up blocker, then after this try to open your Internet explorer again if the same problem appears it means that you need to uninstall your previous version of Internet Explorer and install the latest version which is Internet Explorer 9 the latest version is more convenient to use than the older one. And do not forget to restart your computer for the changes that you have made might take effect.

Thank you

The Internet Explorer may be corrupt, or it just hangs. In case the problem is due to corruption of the Internet Explorer application you will need to do the following:

You will need to run a registry fix program like CCleaner so as to fix any problem with the registry entries that may be causing that problem.

In case that does not solve the problem, you may need to reinstall it to fix any bugs that it may be having.

But if Internet Explorer is just hanging, you will need to close it completely from the task manager and then restart it again and see if it work properly.

Pashkan Steve and Experttechyv. I followed what you both said and my internet explorer is now working. I just updated the latest version and checked my registry. But I think I will no longer use Internet Explorer. I'll stay with Firefox and Chrome. Many thanks TechyV!
