Installing Google Chrome offline is incapable of updates

Hello,

I always go for whatever’s easier. I found out that I can install Google Chrome offline because there’s a “Google Chrome Offline Installer”.

My friend used that, not knowing that it’s incapable of updates.

When he checked his version, there’s an “Update server not available (error: 3) at the bottom of the dialog.

Google Chrome

4.0.223.11

Update server not available (error:3)

Does this mean, he has to reinstall Chrome using the online installer?

Please clarify.

Thanks a lot.

Installing Google Chrome offline is incapable of updates

Hello Jason,

It seems like the Google Chrome updater requires to download update packages from the internet and install them, and therefore you will not be able to update it successfully if you are working offline. To workaround that issue, do the following:

  • Make sure that you have access to the internet on the computer that you are using to update Google Chrome.
  • Try repeating the process exactly like you were doing before and see if it will bring the error.
  • In case it does, you might just need to use the online updater.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Carl

Hi,

If you an offline installer, it is capable to upgrade to latest version whenever an update is released.

However, check whether your internet connection is working fine and makesure your firewall is  not blocking google chrome upgrade server.

Hope this would assists.
