Every time I login to the computer an error message pops up.

The error message displays that ‘The installation of Windows Media Player is not properly done.

So it is to be re-installed.

You can install the same for MS website.’ It contains the ‘No’, Yes’ and ‘Close’ options.

This problem started after the installation of Windows Media Player.

I have re-installed the application from their website, but there was no change in the error message.

I am using windows XP Pro SP 2 and McAfee anti virus. Please help me to fix the problem.

I will thankful for all help and support.

Hello, you might wish to use System Restore to roll back your machine to the date when Windows Media Player was working.

If System Restore does not work, you can try the following steps to find out the cause of error.
  1. Click Start >  Run > Type in ‘cmd’ then press Enter.
  2. Type in ‘sfc /scannow’ in Command Prompt and then press Enter.
  3. It will run a bit time. Be patient and wait until it is completed. If it finds any cause of error, you may fix it.
You might also wish to use System Restore under Safe Mode.

And you can find the ways to boot into Safe Mode at following link

Hope this could help. Thanks and regards.
