I have a copy of Ubuntu 11.02 which is an ISO. I am using Windows 7 32bit with 1GB of memory, 1.8GHz processor and 80 GB of hard disk. I want to install Ubuntu using a 7.1 version of VMware work station. The problem is the installation always hangs. I’ve tried to wait for over an hour but there were no progress at all. I used the default hardware settings for Ubuntu and yet it still hangs. Can someone suggest the best solution for this? Thank You.

Possible reason why your installation of Ubuntu hangs is because the required hardware settings of Ubuntu cannot handle by your computer current settings. If you are using Windows 7, this requires a minimum RAM of 1GB. If you are installing an operating system under VMware that requires a minimum of 500 MB of RAM then probably your computer cannot process some request sent by VMware that is why your computer hangs. If you want to have a smooth installation of VMs, I suggest that you add an additional RAM in your computer. There should be a separate system requirements for the Host and Guest operating system which both can operate.
