Hello ,

I can not install the X-11 software anyway . It seems the following error image and message , How this be solved ?

Error   message :

You cannot install XI1 on this volume. Newer Software already
exists on your computer.

Hello Angela,

You are getting that error possibly because you are trying to install a version of the X11 application that is downloadable from the Apple's website for Mac OS X 10.3 alone.

In order to resolve that issue, you will need to use an optional installer that you can get on the installation disks on your computer, or you can as well check in the retail box to see if you will find the upgrade version of the Mac OS X.

The procedure is as follows:

  • You will first of all install the app,
  • and the pop in the OS install CDwhich will bring up a window
  • You will have to scroll down and then double click the "optional installs" file, check X11
  • And after that complete the installation.
