Greetings from your friend here, I am sharing here some problem that I  encountered while using Ad-Aware, when I  scan my computer for some virus, I attached below the error message for your reference.

Installation ended prematurely because of an

error.

This error message gives me a problem, first of all, I am afraid if this won't work, virus might thrive my computer, what I did at first is to remove the installation and re install again the software, when done,

I tried again to scan my computer for virus, all of a sudden the same error message appeared, the one I installed a while ago is a fresh download file from the internet,

I am now asking friends for your help,

Thanks a lot in reading my post.

Ad-aware Installation ended prematurely because of an error

You haven’t mentioned the version of your Ad-aware but let us assume that your Ad-aware is version 2007. By the way, these solutions I will share to you works in any version. Just follow the instructions.

The problem occurs when the installer registering the Visual Basic Script runtime and this component is required by the installer to move on the next process. In order to move on the next process of your installation we need to register the Visual Basic Script runtime first. Here’s the guide on how to register your Visual Basic Script runtime:

  1. Click the Start menu then select Run or just press Window + R keys to run the Run dialog box. The run dialog appears on the screen.
  2. On the run dialog box type “regsvr32 c:windowssysem32vbscript.dll then click Ok
  3. You will receive a message something like “vbscript.dll succeeded”.

At this point, you have already registered your Visual Basic Script runtime.

You may run your ad-aware installation file. Here’s the guide on how to run your ad-aware installation file.

  1. Click the Start Menu and then click the Run (pressing the Window + R also works for this option). The run dialog appears on the screen.
  2. On the run dialog, click the browse button. Then browse your installation file from its location. If you are installing the Ad-aware 2007 the file name is usually “aaw2007.exe“.
  3. After you have browsed the installation file click Ok to begin the installation.
  4. Just follow the installation wizard until the installation complete.
