Is it possible to increase the processor clock speed and make the clock speed run faster? How can do this and is there any risks involved? I want the performance of my machine to go up? How can I know that the maximum clock speed has been attained and how can I prevent failure incase of overclocking?
Inreasing the processor clocks speed
As you know overclocking is pushing the CPU to run at faster clock speed provided by the manufacturers. For Intel core 2 Duo you can overclock the CPU simply by raising the Front Side Bus(FSB). For Pentium 4 you can overclock it by raising the Front Side Bus (FSB) until either processor limit or thermal limits.
You also can try setting the FSB from 100 MHz/200 MHz to 133 MHz/ 266 MHz.
