My issue is that my PC is unable to connect any new USB devices. My computer starts up with mouse and keyboard. After then, the device manager not showing the connected devices. After starting up if I tried to connect my hard-drive, it  could not read it. Also, if I try to reconnect the already connected device they won’t work anymore.

One possible solution for this broken system file is restoring the computer to any older version back up you might have. Or if that doesn’t suit you, you can also repair the system by making a USB bootable with whatever windows you are running on. Also, do remember to take copies of your work while restoring the system, because new data might be deleted while restoring.

Hope this will help and ping me up if any further doubts arise.

If you keep having this problem with your computer, try using first the System File Checker utility. Press the Windows key then type without quotes “cmd” in the search field. Right-click “cmd.exe” in the search results then select “Run as administrator” to launch an elevated command prompt. In the command prompt window, type the following command then hit Enter:

sfc /scannow

Insert your Windows installation CD or DVD when you are prompted then continue. Wait until the process is complete. When it is finished, close the command prompt then restart the computer. If this doesn’t work, try updating the drivers on your computer. Since the problem is with the USB, updating the motherboard drivers like the chipset driver might help fix the problem.

You can get the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website. See the following list of computer manufacturers:
