Whenever i try to upload a copied website in to my site responds in this manner:-

File 'edited.htm' has a false extension.

What could be the problem?

Regarding your problem, that could be you use the ftp upload tool, e.g, FileZilla, CuteFTP, or else, that not support .htm file. Check your setting of your ftp uploader, in this case I give you example with FileZilla:

Goto Edit > Settings. Find Transfer on the left panel, then click on File Types. Select Auto below "Default transfer type". Click OK.

Then try to upload again. If the problem still persist, I suggest you upload the files directly from the your Cpanel. Login to your Cpanel > File Manager > browse the location which your file should be located, then click icon Upload at your Cpanel toolbar Now you have your file uploaded at your web server.

Your problem may be caused by ftp upload tools, which may not support .htm files. First thing you can do is to try to change the settings in your uploader and set Auto as a default transfer type. If it still not works, you could upload your files directly from the C panel, which may be the best solution.
