I’m Unable to Link Excel Sheet with MS Word.

I'm working with MS Word & Excel files and I've prepared an Excel Sheet, which I want to integrate/link with my Word file. I copied the cells from the Excel sheet & then pasted special into Word file.

The data was copied into the Word file, but the copied data is not updated into Word file, when I change it into the Excel sheet. Please tell me, what is the correct method of linking an Excel sheet into MS Word file.

Hi Adamjohn,

This is a simple question to solve, what you simply need to do is to open the MS Word and open the Excel blank sheet.

  • In the Excel window, open the file, do the same also for MS Word.
  • Select and copy the spreadsheet you require for the MS Excel file.
  • In MS Word, use the Paste special in the Edit option to paste the spreadsheet where your mouse cursor points

In Paste Special, select Microsoft Office worksheet object.

If you have to transport the word file to another computer, you will need to include the Excel file so you can link the data again if you require to do so.

The Excel cells required for Word document

  • When the cells are copied from Excel and pasted using Paste special, this is how they look.
  • The files will now be linked.
  • You may also link using the Paste special option in MS Word;
  • When you update a file in MS Word, it should now be able to update in MS Excel

MS Word and MS Excel is not the same software at whole. You should to learn how to work in MS Word and in MS Excel. Each software are different between each other. You have desired to work with MS Excel and at the same time with MS Word. You have prepared an Excel sheet that you have integrated in MS Word.

Go to your Excel document. Check the document grammar and spelling. Save your Excel document. Now you need to press on right button of your mouse on the document. You will find Paste special before copied the document. You can copy it to MS Word.
