Icon error with New Version of Mozilla Firefox

Hello,

I recently installed the latest Mozilla Firefox browser. I heard a lot of great things about it so I wanted to try it.

However, each time that I try to open a site from its shortcut icon on my desktop, I get an error message that says:

"Can't find this site, check if you typed the address correctly."

A second later the site opens without any problem but this error message stays until I press OK button on it.

This is very annoying!  This never happened with the older Firefox versions.

Help me please, anyone. Thank you!

Hi Eharper,

First, try viewing that default page on your Firefox to another browser like Internet Explorer, if that site can be viewed in Internet Explorer or Google Chrome there might be a problem with your Firefox cache.

Try the following steps:

– Clear the history, go to Tools Menu then select Clear Recent History

– Click the Time Range to Clear drop down menu, then select Everything

– then, select Details drop down menu and select all the details

– then click Clear Now and restart your browser

If the steps above doesn't work, try downloading a new copy of Firefox and reinstall using recommended settings.

Check how you type the address of the website in the address bar. It is possible that you got a different spelling of the website’s address that is why you are always getting the error page in Mozilla.

A single mistyped character in the website’s address will result in a 404 error or page not found. That is why you really need to enter the website’s address correctly.

If this always happens every time you enter that particular site, after the page completely loads check the exact address of the website and then compare it to the one you always enter where you always ended up in an error page. I’m sure you will find a discrepancy between them.

You may also try upgrading your version of Mozilla if you are using the older version. Mozilla Firefox 10.0.2 is the latest version. Check your Mozilla if you are using this version. If not, you can download the latest version at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/.
