Hello everyone. I just created my first ever website for my business and I want to ask for help regarding search engine indexing. Right now there are two major search engines dominating the market, Google and Bing (since Yahoo is now powered by Bing). My website got indexed in Google within 48 hours without even doing anything. However, when it comes to Bing Search, it seems like my website still doesn’t exist. Bing is not indexing my website on their search results page? Please advice on what to do?

Hi! I am also a website owner and been through the same scenario that you’re in right now. I too have issues before regarding my website getting indexed in Bing. From what I’ve learned, Google and Bing use different techniques when it comes to indexing sites. Google automatically index all websites available on the net, while Bing only index websites with high click stream and original contents.
To get you started, you need to first submit your website to Bing through https://www.bing.com/toolbox/submit-site-url
Next step is you need to add and verify your website ownership using the Bing Webmaster tool https://www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster
Once you’re on the webmaster tool, add your website and then follow the prompt for website verification.

Thank you Dellia, I have done that already a few days ago but my website is still not showing in Bing search. I have also validated my website by using the XML validation method but still no go. What other technique did you performed to get your site indexed? I appreciate your help.

Indexing in Bing may take weeks, sometimes even months. The average time for a website to get index in Bing is 30 to 60 days after submission of the website to the Bing Webmaster center. I suggest that you use that time to build original contents on your website and create quality relevant backlinks.
For me, backlinks are the main key for indexing my website in Bing. Try to post your homepage link in well known websites, particularly on social network sites such as FaceBook.com and digg.com. Those are the 2 website where I posted my site and it got indexed after a few days.Â

Just make sure that you are always updating your website with original contents and with quality backlinks. Create as many backlinks as you can but make sure that they have quality and are posted on relevant sites. Also, you can make sure that your website is crawlable by BingBot by following these guidelines:

– Make sure that there are not error on your website source code
– Do not put text navigation links on your website
– Add many indexable content outside of script tags
– Use original/unusual title and meta description tags

Regarding site ranking, you can improve them by following these guidelines:

– Use only two keywords per webpage
– Use original or unusual title tags on each page
– Use original or unusual meta description tags on all webpage
– Make sure that your chosen keywords are found on your URL links
