Pinger is an iPhone and iPod Touch application which works together with an IM service called “Textfree.” Pinger allows a voicemail to answer a call directed to you. It blocks the call from connecting to you, also Pinger doesn’t allow the caller to leave a message for you. Pinger is not affiliated with Skype, though.

Dear Deborah Hall,

You have confusion between some terms:

1- First pinger it is a new company offering services of high quality calls for free on us it depends on making money through ads while you are calling it now in competence with Skype calling service.

2- Second term is pining Skype account it means testing the speed of connection between you and this other account and see the result if the connection able to make video or audio calls.

With Pinger, you can register for free texting and can even have a real phone number even if you don’t have a SIM, eg. on an iPod Touch.

Pinger is going to be a worldwide service so you won’t have problems calling a person from another part of the world. Pinger to Pinger calls are free and they don’t use up minutes.

This is applicable for incoming calls. However, Pinger EX offers 60 minutes of free outgoing calls. Moreover, if you want to record your internet calls, use Hot Recorder.

This comes in very handy if you are taking an interview, etc.
