I want to delete the unique session

Hello,

When I start my PC, I click on my session so that, i can load my settings and I finally arrive on the desktop.

(There was only my session).

I want to delete this unique session to arrive directly on the Windows desktop.

I read that I had to create another session "Admin" in order to remove my session, but the problem remains the same as I would always click on the new session before arriving at the desktop.

Thank you very much.

Hi Scott,

If I understand you correctly, you mean whenever you turn on your computer, you want to log in directly to your user account instead of clicking it on the Welcome screen.

To disable the Windows Welcome Screen and take you directly to your User Account and the Windows Desktop:

  • Click Start
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Open User Accounts
  • Make sure that there is only one User Account
  • You may delete the other account(s) if you want and since you are the only user of the computer.
  • Select the “Change the way users log on or off”
  • Remove the check mark on “Use the Welcome Screen”
  • Remove the check mark on “Use Fast User Switching”
  • Press Apply Options
  • Restart your computer.

If the step above does not work, try this:

  • Go to Start
  • Click Run and type in: control userpasswords2
  • Press OK.
  • Remove the check mark on “Users must enter a user name and password to
  • Use this computer”
  • Press Apply and OK.
  • A window will pop up; “Automatically Log On”
  • Type the user name of the user account you want to log on with every time the computer starts
  • Put in the password is available.
  • Press OK
  • Restart your computer

You may also download and install this registry tweak so that you won’t have to go though the steps above.

  • Get the tweak from: http://ww1.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
  • Click the “Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel” at second column of line #1.
  • Save the registry file
  • Once saved, navigate to that file and double click it.
  • Select Yes when it asks you to import the file.
  • Follow any prompts showed
  • Restart your computer
