Hello all

Just the other day I was trying to check for an update for my iPad but when I opened iTunes to check for an update, it won't check and instead resulted in the following error.

The screenshot of the error is attached below:

Itunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your ipad. An unknown error occurred (1630)

The message states:

ITunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your iPad. An unknown error occurred (1630)

Can anyone now please tell me why is this happening and what should I do next?

What is wrong with my device? Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

Waiting for your replies

Regards

Dear Gracekmakris,

I have read your question and I understand that you are facing some issues checking for updates when you connect your I pad with ITunes. If you are trying to check for updates connecting with a cable trying to connect wirelessly. You need to make sure that your operating system is up to date, check for automatic update. It is very recommended that you get the latest version of ITunes before you try the update.

Update to ITunes 10.5.2

If you are still facing the same error. On your ITunes window click on help then run diagnostics.

Gracekmakris,

Thank you for your inquiry, if turn your settings over to airplane mode that should make the error go away so that you may check for updates. One other way that might work for you is that if you go under settings and disable "Cellular data" before you push the "Check for Update" button, you might not receive the error message as well.
