I think my laptop has a bad USB port

When I place my mouse into port 1, it works totally fine. It doesn't work at all in port 2. At first I thought it was the mouse, but then I put a flash drive into ports 1 and 2, and had the same result. Is there anything I can do to see if I can get that port working again? Or is it just done and I would have to get it repaired? Thank you!

  1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.‌ If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. Double-click Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then look for an entry for the device you are having a problem with.
  3. Right-click the entry for your USB device, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the General tab, and then look in the Device status box to see if it mentions any problems with the device—specifically, a problem with the driver.

If you don’t see any problem with the driver then you can think of replacement.
