Hi Experts,

I received an error message while sending a SMTP email with Thunderbird (2.0.0.23). It says “An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Authentication required. Please verify that your email address is correct in your Mail preferences and try again”.

After getting this message I turned off Avast outgoing mail checker. It was ok. But Avast sent me a warning message that I should not do it again. How can I fix this issue?

Please suggest me.

Hi,

Did you check the username and password? If not then go to tools tab and select the Account settings option. In the new window that appears, select outgoing server and then check the username and password. If they are correct then do not edit any information. If they are wrong then click on the edit button and retype the correct username and password. Now, click on save changes and then restart the program.

If the above procedure did not solve your problem, then go to the tools tab and account settings option. Locate the STMP server you are using from the list of available servers. Then make it the default server and click ok.

Hope this information helps you.
