Hi. I have .DIF files in my computer. I have researched the internet and I think it’s a kind of DV file, am I correct? Can you explain to me more about .DIF files? Moreover, I would like to ask you for a nice dif player. Where can I get it? Is it free to download? Thanks a lot.

DIF files are documents that allow data exchange between applications. You don’t exactly need a dif player. They contain spreadsheet data and can be viewed and edited with the use of a text editor. You can use MS Excel, MS Access, IBM Lotus, or SAS for Windows users. For Mac users, you can use MS excel, SAS, or Torque Game Engine.

Hi Jennifer,

DIF file is a text format file to import or export spreadsheet one at a time on other spreadsheet programs. Its only limitation is it can't transport multiple spreadsheets. DV file is a format used for storing digital video. The components of a DV (audio, metadata and video) are packed in an 80 byte DIF block which can have up to 150 blocks. DV streams has an extension of .DIF can be stored in raw form or in file formats that is playable anywhere like AVI, MXF, QT. Having that feature it can be played on any media player that supports those extension names.
