I have 3 in 1 HP printer, copier and scanner but my printer has a problem in paper feeding (a broken sensor). How can i use my scanner by disabling its printer?

Although the paper feed problem will not affect the other function of scanning for you 3-in-1 printer, make sure you have installed the proper drivers for your printer from the CD that came packaged with your printer.

You could also download the latest drivers or update them from the HP website. This will give you surety of proper printer operations and you can actually scan normally.

The paper feed problem is caused by roller problems causing paper jams.

A broken sensor will either need replacement by a qualified technician and at the moment scanning will not be possible if the sensor is broken because it is mainly the main component in scanning.

If you have a 3-in-1 printer and the problem is only with the paper feeder or with the broken sensor, there should be no problem if you want to do a scan. Scanning a document on the printer doesn’t use or will not require the paper feeder or the use of the sensor because it is only used with paper and scanning doesn’t require a paper.

When you scan a document, the process is controlled by software like the ABBYY FineReader. The result or the output of the scanned document is saved as an image format like JPG or TIFF. The document to be scanned is placed on top of the scanner and not inserted in the paper feeder that’s why it doesn’t require the sensor to work.
