Hi guys.  I bought a new Linksys Smart dual band N900 wifi router.  I'm having trouble connecting with the MapleStory game as it always crashes.  Is Maplestory UDP the same as its TCP?  I need help.  Thanks in advance.

Maple Story probably doesn't even bother to use UDP, since the amount of data it transmits is so small,Oh- there's likely a good reason why you didn't see any UDP activity when you were monitoring- UDP is a "connectionless" protocol that's generally only used when you're in a hurry to send data, and don't really care whether or not it gets where it's going. Some online video games use it sometimes, but since it's not error-checked, it's not a reliable connection method. So it's unlikely anything that was running when you did your monitoring was even using UDP.

First and the important is to setup your static ip address, if you are using port forwarding, then your router forwards the port to ip address that you specify this will be work when you initially set it you, after that restart your computer it get different ip address. UDP roughly half of the TCP. It is almost the same.

Hello,

TCP and UDP are protocols, not ports, UDP uses a one way packet to communicate and TCP uses a handshake method where the receiver replies to the initial packet to confirm what they got. Without these protocols installed and active on your computer, you cannot use internet. To open specific ports, look up at forward online or better yet you can ask somebody to open the games port.
