I would like to change my WiFi password on Teracom modem but it fails. Whenever I go to 198.168.1.1 and type user:admin and pass:admin. but the same error dialog box appears: " you have inputted the incorrect login details" I have even enabled WiFi so it could be broadcasted, and re-entered the SSID , but this has not worked too. Please help?

You have two problems right now and I believe that both are related to each others, the main issue you are facing is to login to the router in the first place, this is why you keep getting this error: "You have inputted the incorrect login details", in which case you are not able to alter the password or enable the WiFi, I suggest to reset the router physically by pressing and holding the “Reset” button for almost 10 seconds until it rebooted and reconfigure all over again.

If the word “admin” is not accepted as both user name and password on your Wi-Fi router that means you changed either the user name or password before or somebody did. Enabling or disabling the Wi-Fi has no effect on the login credentials or the login procedure.

Linksys Wi-Fi router

When you enable or disable the Wi-Fi, it will only affect the connectivity of your devices like your laptop and Smartphone to your router. If Wi-Fi is enabled, Wi-Fi-enabled devices can connect to your router if they have the correct Wi-Fi name and password but if Wi-Fi is disabled, no Wi-Fi-enabled devices will be able to connect.

Also, changing or re-entering the router’s SSID has no effect on the login process. It will only affect the devices connecting to your router. If you really can’t remember the correct user name and or password of your router, might as well reset it. There is a reset button at the back of the router. It is a tiny hole with a label named “Reset.”

Use a pin or the tip of your pen to push the reset button. Once the router is reset, the user name and password will be restored back to the default setting which is normally “admin.” After logging in to the router, you should change the user name and password. Take note of your router’s login credentials and save it somewhere safe like your computer or your phone.
