I’m out of space already on phone

I just bought a Galaxy S4 and I've barely added any apps, and I'm already close to being out of space. I'm not sure why this is since I just bought the phone and have hardly added anything. Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to update anything?  I'm not sure I want a phone where I hardly have any space but probably too late for that now. Suggestions please, thanks for your help.

  1. Move apps to your SD card
  • Go to Settings on your phone
  • Tap on the “More” option
  • Tap on “Application manager” – this will show a list with all your apps that you currently have on the phone
  • Swipe to the right to show the apps that are on the SD card
  • Click on the apps, one at a time, and tap on “Move to SD card”
  • Re-check to see if your storage space has changed
  1. Turn off DocumentSync
  • Tap on Settings >> Accounts
  • Tap Backup Options >> Cloud
  • Tap Documents and click it to Off
  1. Go to Google Play Store and install the program called SD Maid
  • Once you have the downloaded app on your phone, run a SystemCleaner which will free up space on your phone
