Hello guys!

I need help on installing extension utility with my Windows XP laptop.

The error says “Error installing iKernel.exe: (0x10000).”

I try updating it by inserting the Win XP CD, but I conceivably lost the files.

I also got an alert from updating. The error is: “WINDOWS XP UPGRADE COMPATIBILITY The option to upgrade will not be available at this time because Setup was unable to load the file E:i386WINNTUPGNETUPGRD.DLL.” Can anyone please help me?

Thank you.

Hey Leimarie!

To install the iKernel.exe, you have to follow these steps below.

It is very easy to install the iKernel.exe file.

1. Click on start and select Run. Type "explorer".

2. Now you have to go to the following path by expanding the (+) sign.

C:Program Files Common FilesInstallShieldengine.

3. Here you will see "engine" folder. Delete this folder by right clicking on it.

4. Now download iKernel engine update from the internet.

5. Once download it, install the application. It will automatically install the iKernel.exe

Note: Before installing it, you have to stop the following process by opening Task Manager (Alt+Ctrl+Del).

  • setup.exe
  • isetup.exe
  • ikernel.exe
  • msiexec.exe
  • idriver.exe
  • IsUninst.exe
  • IsUn16.exe
  • Uninst.exe
  • Uninst16.exe

Hi,

If you are installed a firewall on your system please disable it.

There are few steps you need to follow.

First set clean boot state on your computer and the problem.

Reason for doing this that can detect if any unnecessary applications are causing the problem.

Please go to link to set the clean boot state.

If couldn’t solve the problem. Following files might be missing in the system32 folder.

Stdole32.tlb

Stdole2.tlb

Stdole.tlb

Please go to the command prompt. Then type following command and enter.

You have to do this for every file which I mentioned above.

Expand cd_drive:i386filename.tl drive:Windowssystem32filename.tlb

Note : cd_drive means your cd driver letter and the drive means your system folder where you install the windows. Filename.tlb is the name of above mentioned files.
