Hello Experts,

I got an error while searching local files. It says the file that I am going to open is having a problem but I need to recover those files for future use. How can I be able to locate the right files maybe it was just hidden by a virus that is why I am having a problem on opening the file. I need your help experts, thank you.

Try to scan your system with some antivirus. You can also use attrib command from DOS. it will help you locate your hidden files.

Hi Angela,

I read your problem and I encountered that problem already. If you got an error while searching local files that mean you have hidden virus in your PC or laptop. I think you should reformat it to disinfect the virus. If you want to recover those files. First, you must save that in an USB and reformat it. After reformatting,

You insert your USB to use the files but before that you must scan this with your antivirus to make sure that your files in USB are clean. Try to click this link and read the Lawrence LV article to make clear about your problem.

Thank You.

Here is the solution to unhide the hidden files.

  1. Click on start menu
  2. Run Command as Administrator
  3. Type attrib -s-h C:My Documents

Here C:My Documents is the name of folder where  hidden files are located.

You can select any folder in your hard drive for example if your files are hidden in the folder called data which is located in drive D. You have to type attrib -s-h D:Data.
