I get an error telling that communication error has occurred

Hi,

I have a problem using the newly installed MS Office 2010 (Professional plus version). While running the wizard for activation, I get an error telling that communication error has occurred, and it asks me to check my internet connectivity, and to try again.

The MS communicator also keeps on showing the message that “Servers are temporarily unavailable”. I’m having another problem too. i.e. I’m always getting a message asking to install two updates MS XML core service 4.0 SP2, and it’s security update, but even after installing these files, the same message keeps on coming.

I doubt that this could be related to the first problem somehow. Please find me a solution to this problem.

That would be really helpful.

Hi,

The message asking to install two updates MS XML core service 4.0 SP2 and it’s security update indicates the your machine and the software is not compatible with each other. First you need to check the compatibility of the software while installing. You did not mention the running configuration of your PC.

However, if it is XP you need to know that MS Office 2010 (Professional Plus Version) is not compatible with Service Pack 2. It requires at least Service Pack 3. So upgrade your PC to Service Pack 3 and install it. I hope it will create no other problem.

I hope you understand it.

Hello Cathy,

It seems pretty clear that the errors that you are getting are due to issues with your internet connectivity. Note that the activation process takes place online and therefore it will not be possible if you do not have access to the internet, or if your access to the internet is too slow.

To resolve the issue, you will need to do the following:

  • Check and make sure that at the moment you are running the MS Office 2010 activation wizard you have got  a strong access to the internet.
  • Check and see if the network cables are connected and working properly, and if you’re using wireless network ensure that you have a strong signal.

Regards,

Carl
