Hi. I have a game installed on my Windows 7 PC.

The game is called Rise of Nations, and when trying to open it, it shows me an error reading

Invalid Patch File.

I'm not sure if this game was installed by using any patch. So I'm not sure why I am receiving this kind of error. I need advices and solutions.

Thanks.

Hello Heather,

For this error there are two solutions. First one you can do is download and install the latest patch for Microsoft rise of nations.

Secondly you can manually update the 1.03 update patch.

  • Install Rise of Nations: if it is not installed.
  • Note Click OK when you receive the error message.
  • In Windows Explorer, locate the Patch folder such as E:Patch in the game CD-ROM.
  • Find these files:
  • Patch.rtp
  • Patcher.exe
  • Copy these 2 files in your installation directory.
  • Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
Open up command prompt and type these:

Cd program filesMicrosoft gamesrise of nations.

patcher patch.rtp.

After the update is done, Please restart your computer and play the game. It will work.

Thanks.

That error is probably from the last update of the game. First, check the system requirements again and verify your computer meets those requirements. “Rise of Nations” supports Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. It requires 1.6 GHz or faster processor, 1 GB RAM, Microsoft DirectX 10-compatible video card (integrated HD 3000, 8600GT, or better), sound card, and 3 GB free space.

If this doesn’t apply, try to uninstall and reinstall. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install. Once installed, start Revo then select “Rise of Nations” among the applications and click “Uninstall.” Follow the normal uninstall process. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and click to delete everything it finds.

This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, exit Revo then install the game back. For more information about the game, go to Rise of Nations: Extended Edition on Steam.
