I don’t see the shortcut icon to autodesk

Hello guys, I use Autodesk 3Ds Max for a very long time now. But after upgrading my computer to Microsoft Windows 7, may be it is because of some virus infection but I am not sure, I don’t see the shortcut icon to autodesk 3ds Max in my start menu and when I open the application I keep on waiting and all I see is the progress bar running and running.

After some time I get this error saying that “Software Licence Checkout Failed: Error 20” and the application just closes. I tried to uninstall it from my computer and then re-installed the software but the same error persists.

Anyone has any idea how to solve this.

Please help!!

I have attached the screen shot of the error with this.

Autodesk 3ds Max 2011

The software license check out failed

Error 20

You did not indicate the version of Autodesk 3ds Max you are using so we can verify if that version is still compatible with Windows 7 since you upgraded your operating system to this version of Windows. Try checking your computer for any virus that might cause this problem. Update your antivirus then run a full system scan on your machine. You may also try checking your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. Any errors in the hard drive’s file system can cause different sorts of problems to applications and can sometimes make an installation to go wrong and will eventually lead to an incomplete software installation. For a much thorough diagnostics on the system, use a disk utility application like PC Tools Performance Toolkit, Norton SystemWorks, or Norton Utilities.

You may also try upgrading your current version if you are not using the latest version. But before upgrading to Autodesk 3ds Max 2012, read first the details posted at

to check if your computer is compatible enough to run this version.
