I cannot install my graphic/photo software

Hi All,

I got a problem with one of my photo/graphic software. Whenever I try to install it, it will stop in the middle of the installation and would say that My system has not been modified, which means that my installation is incomplete.

It is asking me to run the setup again and I do not understand why it says that I do not have the privileges to do the installation. I made my account the administrator of the PC.

I will really need to use this software, but the installation will not be completed. I hope someone will be able to guide me with this as well as the best and easiest way to resolve this issue.

I have been trying to resolve this for a month now, and I am not able to see the resolution in the net. So, if someone was able to encounter the same issue and was able to surpass it, please let me know the solution so I can resolve mine as well.

I am using an HP machine running on Windows XP.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Blake,

Aside from the Operating system you are using, it would also be very helpful to tell us just what exactly is the graphic/photo software that you are trying to install. In that way, we can check for any bugs or if other users have encountered the same error message.

According to the error message you got:

"Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. You do not have sufficient privileges to complete this installation. This installation requires administrative or elevated privileges. Please contact your administrator and then retry this installation."

It sounds like you are installing an application / program in a computer that you do not have administrative rights to. If you do not have administrative rights, then I'm afraid you really cannot install this software. You need to be part of the administrator group in order to install anything you want.

However, if you are the owner of the computer and you are the only user of it, then you should be the administrator. In this case, try the following:

  • Right click on the executable file or the installer of the software
  • On the drop down menu, choose “Run as…”
  • Click on “The following user:”
  • Enter the username of the Administrator account. By default, it should be “Admin” or “Administrator”
  • Enter the password. By default, the Admin or Administrator account has no password.
  • Let the application run and see if it works.
  • Also after selecting the “Run as…” check the “Current user” part. If it says, Current user: YOUR_USERNAMEAdministrator” then you are an Administrator. If not, then you either need to run the installer as the administrator or need to be part of the Administrator group.

You may also:

  • Go to Control Panel
  • User Accounts
  • Create a new user with full administrative privileges
  • log on to that account and install the software from there

If you don’t like to create another user:

  • Go to Control Panel
  • User Accounts
  • Change your account type to Administrator

Good luck!

Here is another software for you;

For you to be able to download it successfully it should be compatible for your system. Install this HP Photosmart C4 10. Click this link which is compatible for your system: HP Photosmart C4180 Windows XP Printer Driver Download. Just follow the instructions upon downloading. Please save the file then. After downloading it, you can now proceed to your prior projects which needs the software.
