Hy khaled,

You write about your problem which is rarely happens but don’t worry there is a solution for it as well and hopefully your this problem is fixed.

So mostly it happens because of the setting of BIOS .but as you said that you also check BIOS then there is a problem with your hardware. Make sure that your drive is working properly and for this you can check your drive by connecting it with someone’s PC and then if it works then install an antivirus in your computer and scan your all drives specially your window drive.

If any type of virus is detected then I suggest you to install a new window again by also removing your partition specially your c drive and then again made new drives and then install windows in it. Your problem will be solved.

If you found same error by performing all the above functions then you contact with any computer service shop and check your all hardware to know either they are working or not.

Thanks.

As you have explained in your posted issue, you have already checked all possible options that will cause ad DVD drive don’t works. Upon checking, or after you have check the cables of your DVD drive, go back to the BIOS set-up and check it if the system already detected the device.

If it was still not detected, power off your computer and removes all drives connection in your computer then connect your DVD drive to other ports then check again on the BIOS if it is already detected. You may also check the jumper settings of the DVD drive (applicable on IDE only). Swapping of your DVD drive and HDD port will help you find the problem.

Check also if the DVD drives having power. If none, check the power cable.

If after deciding to reinstall Microsoft Windows your optical drive suddenly went missing, try detecting it again in the BIOS. Restart your computer then press DEL, DELETE, F2, or whichever key is used to go to the BIOS. In the BIOS, navigate to the drive management section then try to detect your optical drive. If the drive can’t be detected, check the cables again.

Turn off your CPU then open the CPU case. Disconnect the ribbon cable and the power supply cable from the optical drive. Next, connect the ribbon cable back to the drive. For the power supply, use or plug the other power supply cable to the optical drive. After this, turn on the CPU then go to the BIOS again and repeat the same steps to detect the optical drive.

Once the drive is detected, save the settings, and exit the BIOS. You may now install Microsoft Windows XP again on your computer. In case the optical drive still can’t be detected, try pressing the eject button to see if the LED indicator lights up. If the LED doesn’t light up, replace the power supply cable connected to the drive with one of the other cables and try again.
