Please help me with my problem.  I cannot access the files on my 640 GB Samsung G2 portable USB drive.  It says "Sector 0 error".  What does this mean?  I'm on a Windows XP 64 bit SP 2 system.  Thanks in advance.

Hi Eleni,

You can try to boot your HDD to a non Windows OS, like Linux or MAC somehow it unlock the specific sector.

Then wipe out the first few sectors to make them writable again. You can try to use this code here.

Sometimes formatting the drive will refresh the sectors if all else fails you can try DbanDisk Eraser since formatting does not remove/ erase the contents of the disk.

However this will lead to data loss.

Hello Eleni

You can check DBAN software from the following

Try to download and install it

Because formatting you hard disk may not solve your problem

And if this solution doesn't work, try to attach you hard disk to another operating system (like Linux) and check if it can read it
