Hi Jersey Hidalgo,

This error incur because of a faulty driver file located in the Windows System Directory. You can resolve this by doing the following steps below:

1. Click Start> Run> Type SIGVERIF

2. Hit the Advanced option and then choose Look for other files that are not digitally signed.

3. Enter C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32CATROOT under the Look in this folder option.

4. Tick the Include Subfolders.

5. Click OK and then select Start.

6. Go to C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32CATROOT on your Windows Explorer and then locate the CAT file. Just simply move it to other directory and run the Windows Installer 4.5 package.

I hope you got the answer.

Thank you!

Hello Jersey,

You will need to check the anti-virus application or security suite that you are currently using make sure that your subscription is current.

Also check the Antispyware applications that you are using and also if the firewall that you are using is a third party application. Check if any of these security applications were running in the background when you attempted to install Windows XP SP3.

In case the applications were running, you will need to disable them first and then try reinstalling Windows XP S3. After that installation has finished successfully you can turn the security apps back on.

Check here for more details on how to troubleshoot an unsuccessful installation of WinXP SP3:
