I am in need of small dds edit programs

I extensively need a program or an application that would allow me to edit dds files. I would prefer small dds edit programs if possible. I saw some freeware and tried it but most of them are lame. If you know a shareware with guaranteed performance that could help me edit my DDS images, I would appreciate it. I used to use Adobe photoshop to edit my DDS images, unfortunately, I couldn’t use the machine with Adobe photoshop installed all the time, so I am looking for some applications that would help me edit DDS in the absence of Adobe Photoshop,
