I am facing problem with shutting down

I am curious what has happened to my system.

It was all okay up to last week but then I installed the software for editing images and the problem started.

Now every time I try to shut down my PC, I get an end task dialog box for tfswctrl.exe.

I don’t know the reason for this error. I am using Windows XP with 512 RAM and 80 GB Hard.

Anyone please help me out. Thanks in advance.

1. Can you provide me more information like name of the software, its manufacturer? What exact error statement it gives. To be sure about this program, search your system and see with what it comes. If you have any HP Products installed then have a check whether these are working properly or not because tfswctrl.exe is an essential process for HP packet writing software which burns data to CD using Microsoft Windows explorer.

2. This program is non-essential system process but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems. As most applications store data in your system’s registry so there are chances that your registry has suffered fragmentation and accumulated harmful errors due to this installation. I will recommend you to Check your registry to identify hidden errors now.

3. Most non-system processes can be stopped from running if they are not involving in running your operating system. So if you want to stop tfswctrl.exe then you will have to permanently uninstall it from your system. But uninstalling applications may leave registry keys that may bloat your system so I will recommend you to scan your registry for fragmented and obsolete entries from the above link.

4. Also it should be noted that any mal-ware can be named anything, so you should check if there is a “non-Microsoft”.exe file located in your C:Windows or C:WindowsSystem 32, then there is a high risk of Trojan or virus that should be kicked out promptly.

That happens because the “tfswctrl.exe” file is a startup program. Meaning, the program starts with Windows. When you start your computer and the operating system starts to boot, the “tfswctrl.exe” program will also be started. The “tfswctrl.exe” file is from Sonic.

It is the Drive Letter Access Component that allows you to write data to CD or DVD writers as if you were writing to a normal Windows drive letter. If you installed Sonic, you should uninstall it because this file is giving lots of users a big problem.

If you want to burn data to a CD or DVD, use a normal CD or DVD burner application like ImgBurn. To fix the problem, download the free trial of Revo Uninstaller Pro and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then click “Forced Uninstall”. On the next screen, click “Browse for” and select “File”.

Navigate to “C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla” then look for and select “tfswctrl.exe” and then click “Open”. Click “Next” then follow the instructions.
