I have a HP G6 laptop which was working really well till yesterday. But suddenly from yesterday it started booting pretty slowly than ever. I took around 6 minutes. I cleaned junk files and registry also. I scanned for malwares and viruses and even updated my graphic drivers. But I am not able to find a solution for the same. Please help…..

Check when you last defragment your hard drive. If your computer’s hard drive hasn’t been defragged yet then the possible cause why your system is very slow is a heavily fragmented hard drive. If your system drive or drive C is formatted using the NTFS file system, even if you are not installing any new software on your computer or you are not moving or copying files to and from the hard drive, the drive will still get fragmented as you use your computer.

This is because when you are on NTFS and you are using Windows XP or higher, the system files are compressed and when you boot your computer, the compressed system files will be expanded as it mounts the volume. And since this happens every time you start the computer, the files get fragmented as time passes by.

This is why defragmenting the hard drive is necessary so that data access will be restored to optimal when the performance starts to decrease. You can use the Windows Disk Defragmenter located in All Programs, Accessories, and then System Tools to defrag your hard drive.
