Hi experts,

I am attempting to make an USB flash drive from a live CD in Ubuntu 11.04.

I used the steps on a website. I did it 29% and after that I get this error:

Installation Failed

An uncaught exception was raised:
[Error 5] Input/output error
                                            Quit

What is the reason of this? Please help me.

Thanks a lot.

I think what you are trying to do is to create a live USB flash drive installer of Ubuntu 11.04 using its live CD. Before doing this you should check first the capacity of the USB flash drive you’ll be using. It should have enough space to fit the contents of the entire CD.

If you are sure that the USB flash drive has plenty of space, you should then check the flash drive for any errors. Maybe it has physical errors on the data area that causes the errors when you did the operation. Check your USB flash drive for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the drive’s data area. If a data error was encountered, I’m not sure if it is still suitable for use.
