I have an HTC Pure Windows Mobile 6.5 that connects to the web using Opera Mobile.

But most of the time I get an error message saying "Cannot connect to proxy server" when I disable the proxy it helps once in a while.

Do you have any tips on this one?

Hello James,

The procedure you are using may be the one causing that problem.

Try the following:

  1. With your device opened tap on Start and then choose Programs followed by Internet Sharing.
  2. Next you will need to select USB from the PC Connection list.
  3. And then go to the Network Connection list and choose the name of the connection that your device is using to connect to the Internet.
  4. You will need to connect the USB cable to your device and your computer.
  5. After you have done all that, tap Connect.

That should help you connect to the web successfully using the HTC Pure Windows Mobile 6.5.

Programs followed by Internet Sharing

Regards,

Carl

If you get that error once in a while when browsing the web with your mobile phone then your phone is connecting to a proxy server and it is only having a hard time connecting that time. If disabling the proxy sometimes help then why not disable it permanently to avoid seeing that error again.

If you are disabling the phone’s proxy settings or accessing the internet settings of your handset using the interface, try visiting HTC Proxy Server Error for a different way of configuring the handset. It will also be helpful if you update your web browser to the latest version. Download and install Opera Browser for Android. This latest release supports Android 4.0 and up.
