I was happy using my HP Photosmart M22 Digital Camera until yesterday when this message appeared on the LCD (see below).  I tried turning it off then on but nothing happened to improve the status of my camera.

I am not a techie person so please teach and guide me  how to reset the camera.

Thanks in advance.

Camera has experienced and error.

This error generates in the HP Photosmart M22 Digital Camera, when the cameras-focus fails out of its position.

Now, do not laugh. The solution I am telling you will sound funny, but it will surely work.

Hold your camera tightly with both of your hands. Now slam the Camera’s bottom side on the table.

Amazingly, the Camera will work start working.

You can try resetting the Camera, removing and installing Battery and Memory, reading the user manual but those methods will not work.

After slamming the camera, turn it on. You have to set the time & date again.

The Camera will be ready for your shooting.

To solve that problem, you will need to perform a camera hard reset, and the following are the steps how-to:

  1. First you will need to turn off the camera.
  2. And then you will remove any memory card that has been installed on the camera.
  3. You will then remove all the power sources, which should include the batteries and the AC power supplies,  from the camera for at about seconds.
  4. And then you will reinsert the batteries,  and then close the Battery/Memory card door. You will then need to reconnect the HP AC power adapter to the camera.
  5. Done that, you will then need to check if the camera works without an optional memory card.

You should note that resetting the camera restores the settings to the factory defaults, but if you have any images stored in memory, they will be retained.
