Overheating can show the following symptoms:

1) Programs stop responding

2) Fan makes a relatively louder noise

3) Error message
First identify the causes to resolve this issue.

1) Dust
The most common problem is dust and can be solved by using a can of compressed air and blowing it near the ventilation vents. Clean those regularly to stop overheating problems.

2) Surface and Area near vents
Always keep the laptop on a sturdy flat surface and see that the air vents are not blocked by any item near the laptop.

3) Keep the software up-to-date
Always give regular updates to windows as well as the BIOS drivers. Updating your BIOS driver may solve the overheating problem.

4) Cooling Pad
If none of those above methods work, your laptop needs a cooling pad or a cooler environment to keep up with the amount of work you need out of the laptop. If you cannot shift to a cooler environment, consider buying cooling pad for your laptop.
