I have a problem with my laptop HP Pavilion dv5-1010us I purchased 3 year ago. This is no longer cover with its warranty so I’m trying to fix it. I played an online game a lot and these lines or bars occur in the middle of the game.
I have to move the monitor before it returns to normal.

A possible reason as to why your monitor became like that could be due to a problem with your graphics card overheating and therefore causing what you currently see on your screen. Another reason could be due to the cable connecting your monitor to the rest of your laptop could have been loosened and is not properly plugged in. This could be the result of dropping your laptop causing the cable to become loose.
If the problem is your graphics card your computer would constantly see this on your monitor and you will have to have your graphics card replaced. Hope this helped you out.
Your video card may be starting to fail that’s why it can’t handle the stress that is applied to it by the game that you are playing. Does the same problem happen if you use the monitor on another computer tower? If not, then replace the video card. You should also check if the VGA or DVI connector is seated properly.
This is the link that transmits the signals from the tower to the monitor; if it is not connected properly you may get a distorted image or no image at all. Try using another monitor and if the same problem happens you may have a monitor problem.
