Yes! Now if you search you will find Microsoft offering this upgrade process that is a shortcut or bypass from Vista. It actually comes from Laplink Software in the form of PCMover application.

Using this, applications can be moved including, documents, setting, user accounts etc. smoothly along with proper controllability. Normally, there are three editions which include Windows 7 Professional Family Pack with around $199.99 for upgrade and $299.99 full version price.

It is very suitable for any hard core user and any other workplace. People usually look for updates than just move forward for installation. That’s a very wise decision and is widely recommended.

If you want to upgrade your operating system from Microsoft Windows XP to Microsoft Windows 7, I don’t think there is a direct way of doing it. Upgrading the operating system from Microsoft Windows Vista to Microsoft Windows 7 is possible and it has a direct upgrade path. You simply run the upgrade installer on your Windows Vista and it will upgrade the operating system to Microsoft Windows 7.

It’s just like upgrading a normal software, you run the installer for the new version and it will replace the old version with the new one. But with Microsoft Windows XP, there is no shortcut. If you plan on upgrading Windows XP to Windows 7, you have to do a clean install.

A clean install means you need to reformat your hard drive and install a fresh copy of Microsoft Windows 7. A clean install is doing everything from scratch. So, that’s how you should do it. If your hard drive has more than one partition, you only need to format the system drive which is drive C. You don’t need to format the other partitions or logical drives.

Then once drive C has been formatted, install a fresh copy of Windows 7 in it. And then your applications, you need to install all of them from scratch.
