That would be depending on your software if there is an update then you can still update on it. What virus are you using right now? If it is pirated then you cannot update it. I suggest you remove those outdated scanners because that may cause a danger on your files, it would be infected you PC once your antivirus is not updated. Virus maker are also busy on updating there virus you must be up to date on it. Freeware virus scanners are also good compare to pirated virus scanner, in freeware you can update anytime compare to pirated which is not. Freeware virus scanners has limited features it is much better to upgrade you antivirus to premium once it's expires. You can now search to the internet for 30 day trial if you like it then upgrade to premium.

This all depends on the amount or RAM that your system has so as to support some of these anti virus systems like Kaspersky, BitDefender and the likes which require plenty of RAM. All the same, some of these anti virus softwares will provide trial one-month (30 days) period where you have access to full updates. Decide on the anti virus of your choice and search through google. Purchasing some of these anti virus softwares nowadays are at a reduced price but the only limitation is that most of them are limited to a one-year to three-year period. Purchasing a new anti virus is always the recommended way to safeguard you computer hence the safety of your personal information/data. Regards
