Hi Robie,

The first step in troubleshooting starts with the physical or the cable connection.

You always need to make sure that your modem (ISP) is connected to the internet port of your router and if you do have a wired computer or device that should be connected to one of the Ethernet ports (1, 2, 3, and 4). Sometimes, this step is neglected which is the very important part of troubleshooting because everything starts from the cable connection.

Common problem is losing internet connection after an outage or for just no reasons. First thing that you can do is a complete power cycle that means turning off your computer first, 2nd your router and last would be the modem. (Note: modem should be completely off).

Wait for a minute or two then turn your modem ON followed by the router and the computers (Note: It should be in sequence). This usually resolved internet connection issues especially for cable internet providers.

If the internet will still not work then bypass the router and connect your computer straight to the modem to check if there is an active internet connection.

Hope that helps.
