While adding a relying party trust in AD FS Manager, I am getting an error message saying to verify that the specified url or host name is a valid federation metadata data endpoint or not. The data should be there in the file Federation Metadata.xml but I can’t find the file.

If you look at Microsoft Dynamics CRM, the file is now FederationMetadata.ashx. Thus, no file named FederationMetadata.xmlexists, hence,  you are getting the error. Make sure that the certificate works on both CRM and AD FS servers. Necessary permissions on the certificate’s private keys are also required with the application pool identity.
