Very first step is you should try for acrobat’s help menu. And select repair acrobat.

If you are working with acrobat DC, download adobe’s cleaner application cleans the junk.

Then first uninstall and then again install the acrobat software.

Another solution is to modify the data path in the registry folder.

Below are the steps to modify it.

  1. Click start and choose run.
  2. Type ‘regedit’ and press enter.
  3. Search for the path:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

  1. Select App Data string.
  2. Swap the local profile path with the original one.
  3. Click OK.

There have been so many fixes users shared on how to fix error “183” when starting Adobe Acrobat Distiller. Here are some and just try which one works for you. According to one user, Adobe Acrobat Distiller is trying to create a file called “Adobe Distiller” in “C:\WINDOWS\Temp”. His solution was to give users permission to this folder to fix the problem.

To do this, open Windows Explorer then navigate to “C:\WINDOWS\” and look for the “Temp” folder. Right-click it then select “Properties”. In the Properties dialog, go to “Security” tab then in the Name list box, select the user, computer, or group you want to check the permissions then click “Edit”. Set permissions to “Full Control” then click “OK” all throughout.

Try Adobe Acrobat Distiller again then see if it works. Another user was able to fix it by removing it from the Windows startup and then set the permissions to administrator.
