SSL certificate can distribute public key, verify identity, etc. The self-signed certificate is signed by itself and is a threat to the server. To generate the IIS certificate:

  1. Go to IIS Manger from Administrative tools.
  2. Click the Server and double-click Server Certificates.
  3. In Actions, click Create Self-signed Certificate.
  4. Enter the name and end it with OK.
  5. The IIS self-signed certificate is created which is valid for one year.
