My desktop monitor has in-built speakers. When I put in the headphone, sound comes from both the headphone and the speakers. How to stop the sound from the speakers with headphone jack attached?

It really depends on what sound card you have installed on your computer. But the general idea is this: When you plug-in your headphones you should go into the properties of the sound card, usually double clicking your sound card icon next to the time icon on the left down corner, and put your sound card in headphones mode. And do the reverse when you’re unplugging your headphone and want to listen to your build-in monitor speakers.

This problem may occur if sound drivers are not installed correctly. I will recommend you to find what is your motherboard make is? According to which you should download latest sound drivers from support website.

First uninstall sound driver and restart computer. Then installed latest setup which is downloaded from website and make proper installation these things will solve your problem.
