Hi Samara,

Instead of using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, I will advise you to try Google Chrome which avoids pop-up blocker automatically (See image below) and very easily.

If pop-ups have been blocked, you will see the “cross” symbol in the address bar.

1. Click the “cross” symbol to see pop-ups blocked.

2. If you like to see pop-up blocked page then click on the link for the pop-up window.

Here are the steps to download Google Chrome –

1. Download a free version of Google Chrome – https://filehippo.com/download_google_chrome/,

2. Download it,

3. Install,

4. Open the Chrome and start your surfing.

You’re right. It is really very annoying sometimes when a website makes so many pop-ups. Sometimes it is for the advertisement and sometimes it is required to complete what it is you are doing. Most of the pop-ups can be blocked by the web browser but sometimes they are not. A pop-up blocker that is built-in to the browser is activated by default so there’s no need to enable it.

When you install a web browser, the pop-up blocker is turned on automatically so that when you use it for the first time it automatically monitors the page of a website and blocks unwanted pop-ups. You will notice when a pop-up is blocked, it appears at the end of the address bar. To see if the pop-up blocker of your browser is turned on, follow these steps.

In Windows Internet Explorer 8, click Tools then point to Pop-up Blocker. You will see Turn Off Pop-up Blocker. This means the pop-up blocker component of Windows Internet Explorer 8 is turned on. See image.

In Opera browser, click the Opera menu at the top left corner then select Settings or press ALT + P. Select Websites from the left. Scroll down a little then you will see the Pop-ups section. You will see “Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended)” is selected. This shows the pop-blocker is running and monitoring the browser. See image.
