I usually access my Apple iPhone's iOS 8 with two taps on the Home button. Is there a way where I can switch off this particular feature of iOS 8 which displays the most recently contacted contacts in the multi-tasking screen when accessed with two taps on the Home button?

Apple introduced this new feature in iOS 8 called multitasking menu or the recent contacts for the app switcher. This is handy if you want to easily text or call your most contacted family or friend. You simply need to tap on one of the contact bubbles and you will see a variety of options like FaceTime, call, or message. See image.

Though this feature can be useful when you want instant access to tasks for recent contacts, it may turn out different for others. In case this recent contacts feature annoys you, here’s how to disable it. On your iPhone, go to Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Show in App Switcher, and then snap both Recents and Phone Favorites to disable. See image.

After this, whenever you go to the app switcher by double tapping on the Home button, you will no longer see recent contacts.
