First of all download the Cool Edit Pro from this link.

Download and install it in your Vista PC

Now go to the cool edit pro and create a shortcut to the desktop and then right click on the shortcut you created on the desktop.

Choose Compatibility tab and check "run this program in compatibility mode" specifically for Windows XP SP2.
